Online Bill Pay
Important Changes Coming to Bill Pay
We're upgrading our Bill Pay service to provide a better experience for our members.
Important Dates – See below for important “Action Items” related to these dates.
- October 22 – eBills Will Be Unavailable Until Further Notice
- October 29 – Bill Pay Will Be Unavailable
- November 2 – New Bill Pay System Live
What You Need to Know and Do
Some features and settings will not transfer to the new Bill Pay system. Please review the information below and take any required actions before and after the upgrade.
ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE OCTOBER 22 - eBills
After 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 22, you will no longer be able to receive or view electronic bills (eBills), or use the eBill feature to pay or schedule payments, until our new eBill service is available.
If you have an automatic payment scheduled to occur upon receiving your eBill, this automatic payment will not transfer to the new system. You will need to check with your biller to determine your bill amount and due date and manually schedule your payment through Bill Pay or pay the biller directly.
- Review any billers currently set up with eBills.
- Be prepared to monitor due dates and schedule payments yourself either through the Bill Pay portal or directly to the biller after October 22.
- Log in to the biller’s website to determine if you need to update your statement settings.
- Watch for future updates about our new eBill service.
ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE OCTOBER 29 – Review Upcoming Payments in the Current Bill Pay System
Bill Pay will be unavailable beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET on October 29 until service resumes on November 2.
Before October 29, you must review upcoming payments to make sure any bills that need to be paid during our downtime are rescheduled to be processed before the service interruption begins. Payments that remain scheduled during that time period will not be processed until November 2. Payments scheduled for November 2 and later will transfer to the new system, except for automatic payments set up through eBills.
ACTION REQUIRED ON OR AFTER NOVEMBER 2 – Review Your Billers and Pending or Scheduled Payments
We'll transfer your pending or scheduled payments to the new Bill Pay system. Some billers may require updated information before payments can be sent. Those billers will be highlighted in yellow.
Review Your Billers
When you log in for the first time after November 2:
- Review your biller list. Make sure all the billers you expect to see are listed.
- Look for billers highlighted in yellow. Billers highlighted in yellow need updated information. Payments to these billers cannot be sent until the required information is updated.
- You can use the ‘Update’ button to enter the missing information. However, we recommend deleting the biller and adding it again with the information from a current bill. Adding the biller again with complete, accurate information may allow payments to be sent electronically instead of by check.
-
- Delete the biller and add it again. Before deleting the biller, record your account number and the amounts, dates and frequencies of any scheduled payments. When re-adding, use a current bill to enter your biller’s name, account number and the biller’s payment address exactly as shown. If you previously received eBills through Bill Pay and do not have a current bill, visit the biller’s website or contact the biller for this information.
- Reschedule your payments. Be sure to reschedule any pending, future-dated or recurring payments with the biller you re-added.
Review Your Pending or Scheduled Payments
Please verify the pending or scheduled payments we’ve transferred to the new Bill Pay system.
- Review your payments.
- Confirm that the amounts, delivery dates and frequencies are correct.
Important Changes to How Payments Work
Payees Are Now Called Billers
As part of the Bill Pay upgrade, the term Payee has been replaced with Biller. A biller is the company or person you send payments to. This is a terminology change only and does not affect how you make payments.
Payments Will Be Scheduled by Delivery Date
When scheduling a payment, you'll select the date you want the payment delivered to the biller.
Same-Day Changes Must Be Made Before 5:00 p.m. ET
Payments are processed each business day at 5:00 p.m. ET. If you need to schedule, change, or cancel a payment for that day, you must do so before 5:00 p.m. ET. Payments requested after 5:00 p.m. ET may not be processed until the next business day.
Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Some Payments May Be Sent Differently
After the upgrade, some payments may be delivered differently than they are today. While this won't affect your ability to make payments, it could affect when funds are withdrawn from your account.
If Your Payment Is Sent Electronically
- How your account is debited will change:
- Old System: Funds were withdrawn 1–2 business days after your scheduled payment date.
- New System: Funds will be withdrawn from your account the night before payment is sent.
- If funds are not available, the payment will not be sent. In this case, you will need to reschedule the payment once funds become available.
If Your Payment Is Sent by Check
Some billers may receive a paper check.
- A check will be mailed to the biller from your checking account.
- Record the payment in your check register if you use one.
- How your account is debited will change:
- Old System: Funds were withdrawn 1–2 business days after your scheduled payment date.
- New System: Funds are withdrawn when the biller cashes the check.
What this means for you: You must ensure sufficient funds remain in your checking account until the biller deposits the check.
- When the check clears, it will appear in your transaction history with a check number in the 70000 series.
- You will be able to view a copy of the cleared check within Digital Banking.
