How do I register for Mobile Deposit?

All new users must request the service by clicking on Deposit Checks (or Deposit) using their Mobile app.

New requests will be reviewed and processed within two (2) business days. You will receive an email notification whether you are approved or denied the service.

How do I make a Mobile Deposit?

  1. From an IUCU smart phone app, select “Deposit” or “Deposit Check”
  2. Select the checking product
  3. Enter the check amount
  4. Take a photo of the front and back of the check (be sure the back is endorsed properly)
  5. Click Deposit
  6. Success!  The deposit has been submitted.

Note: If you have more than one checking account, whichever checking you choose to make a mobile deposit to will be the default checking account the next time you log in. You will have an option to select the appropriate checking if different from the default account.

What if I have multiple checks to be deposited?

Each deposit can consist of only one check.  So, each check must be entered as a separate deposit.

Once I am approved, can I select to have the funds deposited into a savings accounts or split the deposit?

No. The only option will be a checking deposit. If you have more than one checking account, you will be able to select the one you want the funds deposited to.

Once the deposit has been reviewed and posted, you can then transfer the funds to your savings account or split the deposit into various accounts.

Are there any fees to use Mobile Deposit?

  • The first 10 deposits within each calendar month are FREE!
  • Each additional deposit during the calendar month will be $.50 per deposit.

Is there a daily cutoff?

Yes. Deposits will be reviewed Monday – Friday excluding holiday closings.  Any deposit received by 1:00 pm ET will be reviewed and posted (if accepted) by the end of the business day.  Any deposit made after 1:00 pm ET, will be reviewed and posted (if accepted) the following business day.

Will deposits appear in my account immediately?

No. The deposit will not show in your account until it has been reviewed, accepted and posted.

What type of checks may I deposit through Mobile Deposit?

Mobile Deposit allows you to deposit only single-party, domestic checks payable to an accountholder. Please refer to the IUCU Mobile Deposit Services Agreement (pdf, 334k).

Are there any special endorsement requirements?

You will be required to endorse the check and write “FOR MOBILE DEPOSIT” on the back.

You will be reminded of this each time you submit the back of check for deposit.

What if I cannot get Mobile Deposit to accept the front and/or back of the check?

Double check the following:

  • Is the check photo clear and legible? Be sure that there are no shadows on the check, the check itself is not wrinkled excessively, the image is not blurry and the writing is contained within the relevant spaces on the check.
  • Is the check against a dark or contrasting background? Since the back of the check is typically white, it’s helpful to take a picture of the back against a white or light background.
  • Is the MICR line fully visible?
  • Is there space between the MICR line and the edge of the image? Ensure the entire image is in the picture.
  • Is there a lot of glare? You may need to find another location to reduce or avoid the glare.
  • Is the check number, payee, endorsement, character (numeric) amount, legal (written) amount, and MICR line all legible?
  • Does the character (numeric) amount and legal (written) amount match?

How long do I keep the check after it has been submitted?

Keep the original check 60 days following the date your "Deposit Accepted" confirmation. Validate the amount through Online Banking, Bank-by-Phone or on your next statement. After the 60 days, “void” the check or destroy it.

Is Mobile Deposit secure?

Yes. You'll access Mobile Deposit through IUCU’s Mobile Banking app, which uses encryption similar to Online Banking to keep your information secure and confidential.

Note: The pictures of the front and back of the check are not stored on the phone, so no one can access that information if you lose your phone.
